AVI 2OI: Grade 10, Open

The second in our series of Comprehensive Course is designed for students who have taken the AVI 1OI or AWD 2OX Visual Arts course.

This course provides an opportunity for students to explore and to further develop their artistic and creative process by emphasizing learning through critical analysis, practise, building on techniques from grade 9, and introducing them to new ideas, materials, and processes for artistic thinking and experimentation. 

The studio work will include: mixed media; watercolour; claymation and various drawing activities where there will be a strong emphasis on unlearning what they know and focusing on drawing what we see. This concept will be explored through drawing exercises where students will develop a better understanding of how their brain functions and work towards switching to the right side of their brain to facilitate greater ease of drawing. 

Prerequisite: The Grade 10 course is a Comprehensive Course that builds on information and techniques the students acquired in Grade 9; therefore we recommend students first complete the AVI 1OI or AWD 2OX Visual Arts course.
