Why Music at Bluevale?

We strongly believe that music provides a space for all students in these ways…

Music Courses at Bluevale

Click on the following links to see the music courses that are currently being offered.

Bluevale Concert Band

We currently have one concert band for students in grades 9-12 who play brass, woodwind and percussion instruments. It is a great opportunity for students to further develop their music skills while having fun working with a group of energetic and welcoming students. You need to have a little bit of experience on your instrument but most importantly, you need to be committed to working hard and having fun. The concert band rehearses every Wednesday morning and performs at various events throughout the school year. Please see the 2022-2023 Extra-Curricular Music Schedule of Events for full details.

Bluevale Singers

This vocal group is made up of grade 9-12 students who love to sing and have fun. You don’t need any experience to join but you just need to  be committed to the ensemble. You also don’t need any music reading skills. The Bluevale Singers rehearse every Tuesday morning and perform at various events throughout the school year. Please see the 2022-2023 Extra-Curricular Music Schedule of Events for full details.

Jazz Knights Combo

This group is a jazz combo which is a small group of students that play jazz music in all different styles. This group is made up of grade 10-12 students who love to play their instruments and it is an extension of the Bluevale Concert Band as everyone plays their own part. You need to have some experience to play in this ensemble. The Jazz Knights Combo rehearse on Wednesday at lunch and perform at various events throughout the school year. This year, we hope to also have a concert at the Jazz Room in the spring. Please see the 2022-2023 Extra-Curricular Music Schedule of Events for full details.

Music Leadership Team

The music leadership team is made up of a group of students in the music program who want to take on leadership roles within the program. They work to design different social events for the students in the program as well as taking leadership roles for the music concerts. You need to be in grades 10-12 to be part o the music leadership team.
As we continue to build the music program at Bluevale, we will be adding new opportunities for students so stay tuned for those details!
