The Specialist High Skills Major ( SHSM ) is a specialized program that allows students to gain credits toward their Ontario Secondary School Diploma and focus their learning on a specific economic sector at the same time. The Art and Culture is one of the designations offered at BCI through the Art Departments. Students entered in the program will receive the opportunity to acquire specialized art based skills and experiences preparing them for a post-secondary destination in one of four pathways:  Apprenticeship, College, University or the Workplace. Along with the specialized skills and experiences related to the arts, students will also receive: Sector-recognized certification training (First Aid,. CPR, WHMIS, etc…); real life experiential learning and “Reach Ahead” opportunities and development of the Ontario Skills Passport.

The SHSM is a Ministry of Education approved program.
