Principal’s Message:
I wanted to relay that despite the many technical issues that we have encountered during school start-up, students, families, and staff have been extremely patient, and have worked together to ensure we are off to a good school start-up. There is a lot of energy and positivity within the building. Students are happy to be back in their classes and are getting involved in extracurriculars and WCSSAA sports. This is a great way to feel connected to the Bluevale Community and to the school. We definitely have something for everyone to get involved in.
I would also like to take the opportunity to give some reminders and/or provide information.
- All of our BCI students have Chromebooks and the vast majority have access.
- Thanks for your patience regarding transportation issues. It has been widely reported that there is the possibility of bus cancellations between now and December. Please continue to monitor the transportation website and your email inbox for emails from stswr to learn if your bus has been canceled. Students/families will need to find their own way to and from school.
- At this time, attendance calls are not going out due to IT issues. If you have any questions about student attendance please call the main office.
- We will be distributing lockers in the near future. We continue to ask for your patience.
- Photo Day has taken place. We will run another photo day on October 12 and in semester 2.
- All students will receive a student card this year. This is an important piece of identification that they can use personally and out in the community.
- Students involved in any activity, club, team need to have paid their “Activity Fee”. This is a one-time fee. You can make this purchase on School Day. This fee should not be a barrier for students participating in activities; if it is please call and speak with your student’s Vice Principal.
- Please sign up to receive emails through the BCI website. This is our main avenue of communication and communication from the WRDSB.
I would like to again extend an invitation for our grade 9 families to come out on Wednesday, September 21. HERE are the details of the evening.
I wish everyone a successful Semester One.
Regards
D. Tyrrell
