On Saturday, April 9th, Emma Charters and Matthew Rose competed in the Ontario High School German Contest in Toronto. Competing against the best German Students in Ontario for a top prize of a trip to Germany, they engaged in listening, reading, writing, and grammar components, and an oral interview, over a 5-hour period.
Our German-speaking Knights made Bluevale very proud, ranking 3rd and 4th in the province.
40 students from 9 public and private high schools from Waterloo, Toronto, Halton, Peel, Hamilton and Niagara Regions participated in the contest.
Thomas Nickel, Vice-Consul, Consulate Affairs of the German Consulate General of Toronto and James Steele, president of the OATG, presented Emma and Matthew with their certificates, gift bags and prizes of $200 and $175, respectively.

Last week, the German Consulate offered an additional trip to Emma Charters! This July Emma will be travelling to Germany with 200 students from 90 countries, along with 9 other Canadian provincial prize winners!
