February 13th, 2015
Thursday, February 12, 2015, will go down as a very special day in the history of Bluevale athletic team accomplishments. In the pool Bluevale demonstrated wonderful team depth winning the overall CWOSSA title by 19 points over the second place team from Guelph Centennial. The junior boys relay team of Luke Horst, Luke Hendrikse, Nathan John, and Tiho Slatinoski were gold medal winners in the 200m Medley Relay and 200m Free Relay, qualifying for OFSAA in both events. Nathan also won gold in the 50m breast stroke. Other swimmers qualifying for OFSAA were the brothers’ team of Abdulaziz, Anan, Mohamed, and Omar AlMoallim in the 4 x 100 Free Relay; and Aziz AlMoallim, Jiaxi Wang, Tyler Careless and Mohamed AlMoallim in the 200 Medley Relay. The swimmers will compete next at OFSAA in early March. Congratulations to all swim team members and Coaches Henkel and Palmer.
Meanwhile at Beaver Valley, the Bluevale ski team competed strongly against both their competitors and the rapidly falling temperatures to win the Overall Combined Level 1 CWOSSA Championship due to strong performances by the level one boys and girls teams. Individually, Parker Lobban was Level 2 Boys Champion posting the fastest time of the day earning a trip to OFSAA. Also OFSAA bound is Isabella Vesely who finished third. Both skiers will compete at OFSAA at Blue Mountain at the end of February. Congratulations to all ski team members and coaches Lamb and Tuma.
