March 3rd, 2025
Bluevale’s Science Club and Girls in STEM Club are pleased to host two talks by graduate students from the Perimeter Institute. These talks will take place at lunch in Room 3105 on March 17th and 24th. Any interested students are welcome to attend.
Our guest speakers on March 17th will be Meenakshi McNamara and Tian Dong, Graduate Students in Physics at Perimeter Institute. Their talk, entitled, “How Play-Doh Helps Scientists Understand the Universe”, will explore how geometry (math of shapes) is an important tool that helps scientists understand the universe. This is especially true at the subatomic quantum level. This talk will share how physicists at Perimeter Institute use geometry to get a deeper understanding of how the universe works.
On March 24th Himanshu Shah, Graduate Student in Physics at Perimeter Institute will give a talk entitled, “Quantum tic-tac-toe”. This interactive talk will explore a quantum version of the familiar game of tic-tac-toe.
