The medal colours of the rainbow are now complete for the Bluevale Field Hockey team.  After winning silver and bronze in the past two OFSAA Field Hockey Championships, the Bluevale Knights have finally added a gold medal to this impressive collection.  In an emotionally charged Championship Final match against Resurrection, the Knights won the game in penalty flicks after overtime failed to come up with a winner.  Sidney Evans had scored for BCI in regulation but Resurrection tied the score before half time.  In the shootout after the overtime periods, Jordyn Faiczak, Abby Beaton, Sophie Schmidt and Madison Baker scored on four consecutive shots while senior standout goalkeeper, Madeline Waywell, shut the door ending the shootout before final shots had to be made.  Amid tears of joy at their accomplishment the Knights swarmed each other as classmates, friends, parents, family members and Bluevale staff, both past and present celebrated with the players.  The Knights won six straight games in the gruelling tournament to add an OFSAA title to their earlier CWOSSA and WCSSAA championships.  BCI defeated Humberview, Riverdale and St. John’s Kilmarnock in pool play to advance to the medal round.  They then defeated 2nd ranked Goderich in the Quarter Final match, and 4th ranked Dr. Frank J. Hayden in the Semi Final before defeating 3rd ranked Resurrection in the Championship Final.  Throughout the season the Knights had an incredible record of 26 wins, 0 losses and 1 tie; and scored an amazing 110 goals while allowing only 9.  Special congratulations to the graduating Knights, Jordyn Faiczak, Madison Baker, Madeline Waywell and Sophie Roth for their phenomenal field hockey careers ending with a lifetime memory; and to coaches Tara Macey, Nicole Malatches and Carolyn Griswold for guiding the team so well both on and off the field.  Well done to all, we are Bluevale proud!!!
